Chapter Six: Busy Beavers

Life seems to go back to normal after the engagement. Nathalie ghost hunts as much as possible in order to get some revenue for the wedding. Though her bizarre enjoyment of her job has nothing to do with her increased hours, not at all...

Nathalie is a bit of a kleptomaniac, so she takes pleasure in stealing on the job.
"Hey, my job of eradicating ghost are nothing compared to a few lousy lights and a child's bike." She reasons with herself, despite a lingering feeling of guilt.

Ned doesn't like to talk about it much, but he was only a voluntary firefighter, mainly due to the fact that he is slightly obsessed with fire. But the firefighters got tired of him creating fires for the team to put out when he was bored, so they ejected them from the volunteer team and forced him to take a water-related job. Even Ned can't burn water after all.

He's good at it, perhaps even better at it then he ever was at putting out his beloved fires, but that's beside the point. Silly sulky Ned ;)

Ned's real passion, besides fires, is cooking. While cooking, he loves to croon songs that his mother learned as a little girl in China. She only moved to Riverview as a young adult, and until she died several years ago, she loved to tell Ned about her childhood in "the old China".

Plus he gets to taste the results of his effort, which pleases Ned's stomach. Though he really wishes that the fruit was a little less tinny, maybe he'll have to add gardening to his growing list of tasks. Nathalie enthusiastically loves Ned's new hobby, she doesn't have to cook and she gets to eat delicious food!

Even with all the work, Nathalie and Ned have to experiment with their vibrating bed. "Wow, this is going to make Woohoo even better!" Nathalie can't control her excitement and desire as she pounces Ned.

Nathalie figures out that all this Woohooing has resulted in an unexpected surprise. "I'm pregnant," she whispers with a soft smile, feeling nothing but love for her unborn baby.

Ned deals with the shock of being a new father by making some Flame Fruit. Even the joy of playing with fire take the shock away, he just didn't expect a baby so soon. They aren't even married yet!

Nathalie decides to forgo her maternity leave, she just doesn't believe that she would even rest if she had it, and she needs more money then maternity could provide. She gets a quick massage before she goes to work however, Ned's hands, however gentle they are with making love, just make her perpetual backache even worse.

The ghost tries to hide between the bushes, but no ghost can match a hormonal pregnant woman!

All and all, life is pretty much normal, even with the excitement of a baby on the way. The couple are just a little busier, a little more broke, and a lot more tired then before.
