Chapter Twenty-Two: Supernaturally Bad Days

Tyson's dreams are filled with romantic moments with Roxanne. He can't deny it anymore, if he ever really did. Tyson Marlin is in love with Roxanne Broke, and nothing will stop them.

"Aw crap, I'm late for school!" Rosaline knows that Thorne and Tyson are already out at school, and Ned is out doing...something. There's only one option. "Dammit." She mutters, knowing her meal is doomed. "Nathalie, I know you suck at cooking, but the waffles just need a few more minutes in the oven! I can't be late for school on my first day!" Rosaline runs off, praying the house doesn't burn down. Nathalie's cooking abilities are infamous(ly bad), but surely she can handle waffles?

"Cooking sucks!" Nathalie whines as she stares at the burning mass of waffle goo.

The first day of school is an eventful one for both Thorne and Rosaline. "High school is so much better then Elementary school! And today was so sunny, I swear I must be getting a tan from all this Riverview sun. Hey, do you think I should get some giant sunglasses? Leo does, but he's younger, so I don't know if it's cool or not to get some like those." Thorne jabbers on as he does his homework, and Rosaline wonders how he's so good in school without trying. He's not even a genius!

"I hate school!" Rosaline mutters, so low that only Thorne hears it. He pauses in his work, knowing his friendship is more important then any math equation.
"Why don't you like school Rosie? There's so many fun people and cool projects and the teachers are so cool!" Rosaline shrugs, not really answering. She's willing to leave it at that, but Thorne peeks over at her homework. Childish scrawl covers the paper, with work that he wouldn't expect a high school student to do.
"Shut up, I don't want to hear about it right now." Rosaline bends her head down, cheeks red. Thorne decides to leave it for now, but it's not over.

Rosaline struggles to sleep, her eyes red from crying so hard. It's so hard to compete against Tyson, with the IQ of 163, and Thorne, who didn't even have to try to get A's. She stares at the portrait Thorne made of her doll self, and she wonders if it was easier or harder to be a simplistic being filled with hope for the future. She would have had no concern about her grades if she was still a doll, but she would be even worse at school if she was still a doll.

A couple hours later, Thorne climbs up on the top bunk. He sees Rosaline sleep blissfully, and he wonders to himself why she is so sad despite having her dream come true. She's living and breathing, yet she's somehow less life-like then before.
"Maybe I'll sign her up for study club. And if I join, maybe she won't take it as an insult, but as an opportunity to hang out some more?" He whispers to himself, hoping that he can bring some of the sparkle back to Rosaline's bright blue eyes again.

Rosaline wakes up early, feeling a lot more cheerful about her school situation. Sometimes all a sim needs is a good night's sleep to make things seem so much better. She grabs a guitar that Ned fished up while she was a doll, smiling as she plays around with the strings.

After school, the teens hang out and do their homework together. Both having a good day, Thorne and Rosaline chat excitedly while working. However, Tyson looks rather glum as he glares at his homework.
"What's wrong Ty?" Rosaline asks softly while Thorne rambles on about Science and Aliens. He just shakes his head, and Rosaline gives a reassuring smile before concentrating on the evils of algebra. She knows what it's like to have a bad day. Thorne suddenly stops talking and stares at his brother, but says nothing. Talking just made things worse yesterday, after all.

Tyson just doesn't know what to do with himself. Everything seems so wrong today, like he's drowning. "Well, really I'm drowning from some intangible concept in my mind, not by water or anything." Sometimes Tyson is a bit too literal for his own good. "Maybe I'll call Roxanne and ask to hang out. I've been wanting to hang out at the Gazebo for a while, and she'll probably cheer me up."

Roxanne eagerly agrees, and they quickly finish up their homework before rushing off to the Gazebo. Instead of going inside the Gazebo however, they meet near the hedges, where the night sky glitters down upon them.
"I was thinking Ty, what's you're favourite supernatural creature? Mine has to be Yeti, him and Bigfoot are still believed in despite no evidence of them existing or anything. It'd be pretty hard to hide something so big, so it's kind of weird that people still believe in them, so maybe they have some mystical monkey powers or something. Plus, Yeti's like a giant snow monkey, which is pretty cool!"

Tyson laughs, the first time he has done so all day. He desperately tries to think of a supernatural animal that he might like that might impress Roxanne, wishing that Mom could whisper an answer in his ear. She's always been good with remembering anything related to the paranormal and supernatural world, while he's always been a realistic kind of guy.
"I've never thought about it before, but unicorns are really awesome. I know they're kind of girly, but it's a flying horse, what can go wrong with that?" Now it's Roxanne's turn to laugh, and gives her a confused look.
"That's a Pegasus, silly! Unicorns are the glittery horned horses with mysterious healing powers, or so the legends go."

Roxanne pauses, clearly thinking of a way to comfort Tyson without insulting his manly-hood. "It's okay if you don't know everything Ty, Mom's like that too. She's always been so close-minded, and I always fight to prove to her that even if there's no proof, it's still better to believe then to lose the possibility of it existing. At least you're trying." Tyson isn't sure what to think of what Roxanne has just said to him. His mother may have cheated on his father, and he's never really forgiven her for that. But maybe she has some good qualities too, stuff that his father still sees in his mother that makes him want to stay with him.

"The world just isn't that black and white, is it?" Tyson whispers, more to himself then anything, but Roxanne seems to understand.
"All the colours of the world make life a wonderful, if sometimes confusing, place to be." She sounds rather poetic, something Ty knows that Thorne would understand much more then he does right now. While Tyson still doesn't quite 'get' this illogical way of thinking, he knows that he'll learn to enjoy Roxanne's magical beliefs.

  1. I finally got caught up with your legacy. I was holding my breath through the whole Ned/Nathalie debacle hoping he wouldn't leave her. I'm really glad they got things worked out; hopefully Tyson forgives her eventually too.

I really like Roxanne, she's a nice foil to Tyson and seems like she'll be good for him.

Also, I noticed a couple chapters back that you asked where to find donation items. If you're still wondering, check out:

  2. Hi! I just read through your legacy story, and I really like it so far. I can totally relate to some of the emotional drama of your characters. You are an excellent writer and I think your portrayal of all the ups and downs associated with mental disorders is very vivid and realistic. In particular, I find Tyson's struggles intriguing. I'm curiuos whether he is just upset with his family life or if there is something else going on with him.

But, yeah, great work! I hope Ned and "Nattie" find happiness together again.

  3. Thanks for the reviews guys, I'm glad you've enjoyed it so far. I've dealt with a lot of mental health issues myself, so it's good to hear that I'm doing that part realistically.
Thanks for the link CD :) I never did get an answer, yay for stealing from paysites XD
